Sunflower Seeds

CAGED AND CAPTIVE BIRDS - The high levels of oils contained in Sunflower Seeds can be detrimental to your birds health, particularly as birds in captivity are unable to burn off a lot of the calories contained in these rich seeds by flying. If you are feeding our own brand parrot mixes they have been designed to contain a suitably balanced amount of sunflower for an "average" bird. It is upto the individual keep if the breed of bird they keep required higher levels of sunflower in the diet.

WILD BIRDS - Sunflower Seeds are high in fats which are essential for British birds during the winter months. These fats are readily converted into energy which the birds use to survive. Oil levels are slightly higher in the black variety but all sunflower variety will be readily accepted.
