Parrot Mixes or more precisely parrot food
is quite possibly the single most important aspect in your bird’s daily life.
There are as many opinions on how and what to feed parrots and parakeets as
there are breeds of bird to choose from. Seed mixes are where most people start
so we have endeavoured to design our products to be as beneficial for your birds
as possible. Many of the newer varieties of Parrot Mixes do not just contain
huge amounts of sunflower seed and peanuts, they may contain fruits and nuts,
vitamin enriched pellets, berries, insects, vegetables and legumes. It is a
common myth that large birds must eat only large foods. Obviously a green wing
Macaw can deal with the hardest nuts but they are also quite happy with a beak
full of millets which their beaks are dexterous enough to open as well.
Different seeds contain different balances of proteins, vitamins or trace
elements and getting the balance correct to imitate nature is very difficult.
This is why our Parrot Mixes contain a seed sized and shaped vitamin pellet. We
also recommend that you feed your birds good quantities of fruits and
vegetables, sprouted seeds, fresh green stuffs and to use a vitamin and mineral
additive.
